All You Can Eat Crab Legs

A while ago, the Boo put me to the task of finding an all you can eat crab legs joint in Atlanta.  I googled and yelped my way through different sites on the Internet and actually found a couple of places, but the restaurant we chose to venture to was The Highlander in Midtown.  For one, it was really close to our residence, and another, Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives had also visited this rocker style bar/restaurant!  For $25.95 you can eat as many snow crab legs as you want along with a side of either tater tots or french fries (we all chose the tots).

Second Round

I believe this was the Third and Fourth Rounds...for the boys

Not pictured: Fifth and Sixth Rounds

The crab was delicious.  Perfectly steamed, hot, and fresh and just way better than what one would think you could get at an all you can eat extravaganza.  We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the refreshing spring night with beers/ciders and crab legs for days.  I think we counted that we consumed about 30 clusters of legs between 4 people, so we can definitively say that we got our money's worth.  I think that moment when I felt the cool breeze of the Atl spring after just pulling out an intact piece of crab leg meat and sloshing it in the melted butter was about the most perfect moment ever. #happiness

Kyma

Last week my best foodie friend and I decided to partake in Buckhead Restaurant Week, and after much heated discussion and research of the prix-fixe menus, we decided to go to Kyma.  Once we got there, we ended up ignoring the prix-fixe menu and ordered four small plates off the regular menu as this was more economical and gave us more cash to spend on the equally important part of the meal, the wine.

The Zucchini Fritters were the first to arrive and they came with a saffron yogurt dipping sauce.  The fritters were more like lightly battered cheese balls with a hint of a vegetable...delicious.  The sauce was a bit sweet and a good accompaniment to the fritters.

Next, we tried the prawns which came in a tomato sauce with feta cheese crumbles.  The sauce was amazing!  After we finished the prawns, I was literally spooning the sauce into my mouth.  The prawns were good, but just a little tough and a bit dry. But that sauce.

We then were brought the scallops atop a yellow split pea puree.  The scallops were cut thin and were perfectly cooked.  The combo of the scallop, pea puree, and the capers were super delicious, salty, sweet, and a little tangy.

Finally, we had originally ordered the spanakopita, but we realized it had been forgotten.  Fortunately, we were already super full and told our nice server we were ok without it.  Out server was so sweet about the whole thing and brought us a free dessert!  We each received one of these delectable donut spheres topped with cinnamon and honey.  I think this was probably way more appreciated than the spanakopita would have been.  It was the perfect little bite to end our meal!

I'm Baaaccckkkk!

I'm back y'all!  It has been a minute, but I've decided to revisit my long lost blog.  Things have certainly changed since my last post in December 2011.  I have a new job, a new boo, and a new intention for the blog.  I cook almost everyday, and cooking for two now gives me a little more freedom to be creative (cooking for one was never that fun).  I plan for Nourishment on a Plate 2.0 to have more pictures, less words, and more recipes I try on a weekly basis.  I hope you enjoy my inaugural post from Buckhead restaurant week at Kyma! Feels good to be back!  (Take a look at some of the adventures I have had in the last two and a half years!)
